Entertainment line-up Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix 2019:

Race promoter Singapore GP unveiled two exciting additions to the solid entertainment line-up at the Formula 1 Singapore Airlines Singapore Grand Prix 2019.

Making their debut performances in Singapore at the night race are British musical stars, Lighthouse Family and The Ramona Flowers.

Previously announced acts for the spectacular three-day sporting and race event from 20 to 22 September include Fatboy Slim, Gwen Stefani, Hans Zimmer, Larkin Poe, Muse, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Swedish House Mafia, as well as Toots and the Maytals.

The musical duo Lighthouse Family – made up of vocalist Tunde Baiyewu and producer/keyboardist Paul Tucker – are making their return in 2019 after nearly two decades with their fourth album ‘Blue Sky In Your Head’. One of the biggest British bands of the 1990s, the easy listening pop and soul group rose to fame with hit singles Lifted, Ocean Drive and High.

They scored three top 10 records with their 1995 debut ‘Ocean Drive’ peaking at number three and going platinum six times. Their 1997 follow up album ‘Postcards From Heaven’, featuring three Top Ten singles - Raincloud, High and Lost in Space - also went platinum six times, charting across Europe, Asia, Australia and New Zealand. After their third album ‘Whatever Gets You Through The Day’ featuring the Top Ten single Free/One, the duo took time off to work on their solo careers before resurrecting Lighthouse Family in 2019 with the latest album celebrating their 25-year recording history.

Prior to their sold-out 2019 United Kingdom tour, the duo will be performing in select Asian cities, including Singapore at the Marina Bay Street Circuit. Fans can look forward to enjoying their classic hits at the Esplanade Outdoor Theatre (Zone 4) on 21 September.

Known for seamlessly fusing electro-rock elements with anthemic pop melodies, the sound of The Ramona Flowers is compared to the likes of their music influences, Phoenix and M83. Consisting of guitarist Sam James, bassist Wayne Jones, keyboardist/guitarist Dave Betts, drummer Ed Gallimore and vocalist Steve Bird, the indie-synth quintet serve up a feast for the senses with their brand of moody, electronic music as seen in their three albums, ‘Dismantle’ (2012), ‘Lust and Lies’ (2013) as well as ‘Dismantle and Rebuild’ (2014).

Fans can look forward to grooving to dreamy euphoric sound tracks like Strangers, Ghost and Out of Focus at the Sunset Stage (Zone 1) on 21 September and the Downtown Stage (Zone 4) on 22 September.

Other local and international acts also adding to the riveting atmosphere at the Marina Bay Street Circuit include UK-based quintet Holy Roller and The Smoking Guns, Singapore’s only fully independent professional symphony orchestra Metropolitan Festival Orchestra, DJs and party-starters Darker Than Wax, EMONIGHTSG, DJ Honey and Ulysses, Singapore’s percussion ensemble Bloco Singapura as well as Taiwan’s fire dance troupe Coming True Fire Group.

Race fans can look forward to hours of sporting action even before the fastest Formula 1 cars take to the track with the Ferrari Challenge Asia Pacific and Porsche Carrera Cup Asia returning as official support races this year.

MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS - Toto Talks Singapore

We came back from the summer break knowing that the first two races would be difficult for us. We ended up with two double podiums and 67 points which was a strong form of damage limitation and more than we expected. However, you could tell in the debriefs that Spa and Monza left us not satisfied and everyone in Brixworth and Brackley is pushing hard for more victories.

The next race takes us to Singapore, a spectacular night race set and a great showcase for our sport. The offset schedule and the climate make it a demanding weekend for the team; temperatures in the garage can easily reach 40 degrees Celsius or more with high humidity levels as well. It's a tough environment to work in and it's equally challenging for the drivers and the car itself.

For a long time, Singapore used to be one of our weakest tracks, but we've made some inroads into that and performed well last year. However, there are no home runs at a track like Singapore: we need to understand this car and this year's tyres on a very particular track layout and take absolutely nothing for granted in our approach to the weekend. We are looking forward to a tough battle under the lights in Singapore
