Bell ’inizio per  la squadra italiana e Francia, Germania, Azerbaigian  nel XII. FIP European Polo Champhionship Quantocoin Cup 2018, sui terreni del Villa a Sesta Polo Club (Ripaltella).

Il team azzurro (Gualtiero Giori, capitano, Nicholas Lopes Fuentes e i fratelli Nicolas e Martin Joaquin) ha infatti battuto nella partita inaugurale del torneo la Spagna (Tuky Ruiz Guiñazu (Sotogrande), Alfonso Figar (Madrid), Tonete Ayesa y Javier Cunill (Bcn) )  (7-5), una delle più temibili squadre tra le dieci in campo.
Raggiante Eduardo Menedez, fuoriclasse argentino che nell’occasione è stato chiamato dalla FISE a vestire il ruolo di coach per il team Italia:
“Temevamo questo incontro perché i quattro giocatori della Spagna sono molto affiatati e nei primi due chukker il gioco non è stato facile per i nostri. Poi hanno chiuso velocemente il ‘rodaggio’ e nella parte conclusiva della partita tutto è andato molto meglio. Ora concentrazione massima per il prossimo match contro l’Austria di sabato 22"

Spagna, Director deportivo real federacion Española de Polo, Luis Berjumea: 'Una pena que España perdió contra Italia, incluso haciendo un buen partido.  Hasta el 3 chukker ibamos empatados. Un par de jugadas de mala suerte y perdimos los dos. Los Caballos nos fueros bastante bien, mañana nos toca suiza y después Austria (esperemos que sean más fáciles) y por último Alemania que es muy fuerte.
El club Villa a Sesta y las canchas son muy buenas y hay un gran ambiente deportivo aqui !. '

Il capitano Giori ha messo a segno due goal, come Martin Joaquin mentre il migliore in campo è stato Nicolas Lopes Fuentes, a segno tre volte.






Nelle partite successive successo dell'Azerbaigian, nazione al debutto nell'Europeo, contro l'Olanda (7-3) , della Germania, tra le più temibili in campo, contro la Svizzera (13-4 1/2) e della Francia che ha battuto la Slovacchia (5-1 1/2).

Il Campionato Europeo si gioca con la formula due gironi e finali. L’Italia è stata sorteggiata nel forte girone B che vede anche Austria, Germania, Svizzera e Spagna. Nel Girone A sono invece compresi Azerbaigian, Francia, Irlanda, Olanda e Slovacchia.

Venerdì 21.09., niente gare al Villa a Sesta Polo Club.
Sabato 22.09., invece ancora una giornata molto intensa con altri quattro match a partire dalle 11:00, nell’ordine Azerbaigian Vs Francia, Irlanda Vs Olanda, Italia Vs Austria e Svizzera Vs Spagna.

VAS  -  Villa  a  Sesta  Polo  Club  Founded  in  2000,  this  is  one  of  the  best  polo  clubs  in  Europe.  from  the  very  start,  every  single  project  has  been  planned  and  implemented  with  meticulous  attention  paid  to  technique,  environmental  impact  and  the  wellbeing  of  horses  and  players.  The  VAS  has  three  technically  world-class  international-sized  polo  fields  (all  in  Tifton)  as  well  as  a  practice  field.  The  main  no.  1  field  measures  260  x  140  metres,  field  no.  2  measures  245  x  120  metres,  and  the  new  Sorleone  field  (no.  3)  measure  276  x  150  metres,  with  the  practice  field  measuring  120  x  70  metres.  Inaugurated  in  2017,  the  “Sorleone”  field  is  not  only  the  largest  in  Italy  but  also  close  to  the  private  lake,  an  ideal  location  for  drinks  and  relaxing  after  matches.  The  travertine  marble  grandstand  overlooking  field  no.  1  and  a  covered  and  fully  equipped  100  square  metres  large  area  with  an  elegant  lounge  bar  make  the  Villa  a  Sesta  Polo  Club  an  ideal  and  unique  location  for  international  tournaments.  The  most  important  event  hosted  before  the  2018  European  Championships  was  the  European  Play  Off  for  the  2011  World  Championships.  On  that  occasion  both  Great  Britain  and  Spain  had  also  presented  their  candidature.
