From Monday, August  14th, the eyes of the polo world will focus again on Santa María Polo Club, Sotogrande-Spain,  as the Gold Cup of 46th edition of the Torneo Internacional de Polo kicks off, and will be extended until August 27th.

The tournament starts on Monday  afternoon for the medium and high goal category, (Aerolineas Argentinas Gold Cup and SMPC Gold Cup)  two of the three competition levels that the traditional Torneo Internacional organized by Santa María Polo Club offers. The low goal category, the Gold Cup Isolas  will kick off  on Tuesday and Wednesday morning in the Puente de Hierro fields with the first games.
A total of 21 Polo teams from 18 countries are fighting for the Bronze, Silver and Gold Cups since 25th of July and until the 27th of August 2017 in the prestigious and one of the worlds Top Poloclubs, the SMPC, Sotogrande.

The 46° Torneo Internacional de Polo is conformed by 9 titles: in the high goal category, the three will be the SMPC  Gold Cup, the Maserati Silver Cup  which finishes today with winners Lechuza Caracas, Equus, La Mangosta,  etc.  and Royal Bliss Bronze Cup with the winner and finalists Ayala Polo Team, Brunei Polo Team, Jolly Roger - King of Polo, FTC Sotovila, Saint Mesme, etc. in the other two categories (medium and low goal)

In these three competitions, four of the ten best players in the world are participating  for the coveted trophies. Additionally, in the low and medium goal categories, there will be a total of six  titles, sponsored by Aerolineas Argentinas and Isolas 1892.

10 goaler Facundo Pieres, Pablo Mac Donough, Juan Martín Nero, David Stirling Jr  are  competing on teams Dubai/Brunei, Lechuza Caracas, and Ayala Polo Team on the high goal level this year at SMPC, Sotogrande.  
The medium and high goal categories form  part of the World Polo Tour:
- Aerolineas Argentina Silver Cup, medium goal: WPT Challenge Cup, 20 WPT points
- Maserati Silver Cup, high goal: World Championship Cup, 80 WPT points
- Aerolineas Argentinas Gold Cup, medium goal: WPT Challenge Cup, 40 WPT points
- SMPC Gold Cup, high goal: Grand Slam, 150 WPT points

A part of the stunning Polo matches, visitors will have several activities to enjoy, from a varied cuisine, exclusive shopping village, kids area, bars, to parties at the After Polo and as a great new event, four concerts with national and International artists, gathered at the Sunset Valley Festival.

Entrance is free of charge, except the final of the Gold Cup (high goal).
